Evaluation of Passivation Process for Stainless Steel Hypotubes Used in Coronary Angioplasty Technique

چکیده

In the manufacturing of hypotubes for coronary applications, austenitic steels types 304, or 316 L are being used. The process involves bending steel strips into tubes and continuous longitudinal welding tubes. Manufacturing also includes heat treatments stretching operations to achieve an external/internal diameter 0.35/0.23 mm, with a tolerance +/? 0.01 mm. Austenitic sensitive localized corrosion (pitting, crevice, intergranular) that results from various treatments. An extremely important step is cleaning internal external passivation hypotube surface. During patient interventions, there high risk metal cations released in contact human blood. aim this study was evaluate state resistance by using electrochemical methods specific intergranular tests (the Strauss test). There were difficulties passivating assessing phenomena interior Assessments made plotting open circuit potential curves exploring polarization Tafel domain range ?50 mV vs. Ecorr (redox potential) +150 saturated calomel electrode (SCE, reference micro-electrode) both surfaces hypotubes. tested did not exhibit corrosion, as mass losses low and, general, close limit analytical balance. Electrochemical techniques differentiation possible. measured currents order nano–pico amperes, quantities electrical charges consumed micro–nano coulombs.

Microleakage of three luting agents used with stainless steel crowns.

The microleakage through margins of stainless steel crowns cemented with polycarboxylate, zinc phosphate, or glass ionomer cement was evaluated by measuring the amount of 4SCa leakage through the crown margins through 56 days after cementation in an in vitro environment. There was no cement-specific difference in marginal leakage as measured by this technique. The amount of leakage for each cem...

Electrochemical and passivation behavior investigation of ferritic stainless steel in simulated concrete pore media

The applications of stainless steel are one of the most reliable solutions in concrete structures to reduce chloride-induced corrosion problems and increase the structures service life, however, due to high prices of nickel, especially in many civil engineering projects, the austenitic stainless steel is replaced by the ferritic stainless steels. Compared with austenite stainless steel, the fer...

Passivation and corrosion behaviours of AISI 316L stainless steel as implant materials in simulated blood environment

The purpose of the study was evaluation of corrosion resistance of steel 316L used in cardiologic treatment mainly for vascular stents. The study analysed influence of electrochemical and chemical treatment of the steel surface, including sterilisation with pressurised water steam, on its corrosion characteristics. The tests were performed in artificial blood plasma simulating human blood envir...
